Volunteers assist senior homeowners with yard work and minor home repairs
Kent, OH. – Senior homeowners in Kent were again beneficiaries of the generosity of community volunteers on Kent Senior Service Day on Saturday, November 7 from 8a.m. until 5p.m. Volunteers from Riverwood Chapel, Rotary Club of Kent, Metis Construction, Portage Community Bank and Kent State University Construction Management Program and others joined forces to assist homeowners aged 65 and over who reside in Kent and are unable to perform fall yard work such as leaf raking and minor home repairs. Homeowners qualified for the minor home repair program offered by the City of Kent, who was the major donor for this program.
Other financial sponsors included Diamond Title Company, Bennett Land Title, Thompson and Hummel Insurance, and Riverwood Chapel. Special thanks to Dunkin Donuts for the breakfast treats and Hometown Bank for providing volunteers with lunch and their plaza to kick off the fun-filled day.
Kent Senior Service Day is a community-wide effort to match local volunteers with senior homeowners in order to help them maintain their investment in the community.
