Rotary Hero's Day

Metis Construction Services Teams Up with Stow-Munroe Falls Rotary for Hero’s Day
Saturday, May 17, 2014
The rain stopped just as Metis employees walked up the driveway of Mr. Richard Benton’s home, and wouldn’t start again until they were leaving from a morning of yard clean-up at the World War II Veteran’s home in Stow. Perfect timing!
Leaves were raked; flower beds were cleared, planted and mulched; and yard debris was removed and hauled away.
Metis employees jumped on board when asked to participate by Metis Construction Services co-owner/VP Human Resources and Stow-Munroe Falls Rotary Board Member, Katie Wright. Her first year participating, Wright brought along her husband David (also a Metis employee), sons Caleb, 12 and Owen, 7 and her parents Jim and Margot Clifford of Grand Haven, MI. “What a great opportunity to give back to our heroes,” Wright exclaimed. “When I described the project at a staff meeting, I didn’t finish the last sentence before the staff said YES!” When Mr. Benton visited the volunteers throughout the work period he was so excited to see his “new” yard. He was truly moved that all these people would give up their Saturday to help him.
Also participating from Metis Construction Services (a female-owned commercial general contractor located in Kent) co-owner and President Julie Brandle, husband Steve Brandle, daughter Kimberly, 14 and fellow employees, Marcel Clopton, Rick Allen and John Tolbert. Rounding out the team, Elizabeth Eaken, fellow Rotarian and architect with Kent’s David Somers and Associates and her two daughters Heather, 14 and Emily, 12.
